In digital photography you can put your image on the web, you can edit , you can build a slide show , you can document news footage, and so many other things. All this can be done almost instantly. There is no waiting for negatives to develop, no messy dark rooms, no scanning to post on the internet. The printers and photo paper you can purchase and use without a whole lot of knowledge about photography or computers and is fairly inexpensive and comes out just as good as something you would take to the store and wait to have developed. Dark room solutions for prints and finding a bigger apartment to have a dark room can all be very expensive and unpractical, with digital you also will not waste any exposures because you can delete as you go along, film is fantastic and rich in color and can have very sharp resolution but with no experience you can waste film by taking bad shots. If you are really good with the modern day software there is almost no such thing as a bad shot, you can manipulate the photos so much more than you could ever do with a dark room. A small downfall to digital is that it is taking away from the knowledge of the inner workings of a camera and photo paper and light etc. but that is just in the times, how many people can tell you how the engine in there car works compared to thirty years ago. I personally love digital and would never go back!
